AI & automation for law firms and advisory practices

The work that eats a law or advisory practice is rarely the advice. It is the intake, the conflict checks, the engagement letters, the follow-up that slips, and the fact that the way this firm prices, scopes, and reads a client lives in two or three people's heads and nowhere else. That is the admin, and the risk, worth addressing first.

The difference is how deep the integration goes. We build against the systems a practice already runs: Actionstep, LEAP, and the document store, wired into Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, not a bolt-on that stops at the edges. Intake populates the matter, first drafts assemble from your own templates, and the knowledge that used to leave with a senior partner becomes a documented, searchable resource the whole firm can use.

We are honest about where automation does not belong. It drafts, it does not advise. Judgment, privilege, and the client relationship stay with your people, and every output is reviewed by a person before it leaves the office. Client information is handled confidentially, with scoped access agreed in writing before anything connects, in line with your Privacy Act 2020 obligations and the Law Society's guidance on using AI.

/ What's included

Client and matter intake

New matters open themselves: intake forms populate Actionstep or LEAP, the initial checks run automatically, and engagement letters generate from your templates. Only the genuine exceptions reach a person.

Knowledge capture

The pricing logic, process, and client judgment that currently lives in the principals' heads, turned into a documented, searchable internal resource. The firm stops being one resignation away from losing how it works.

Drafting and follow-up automation

First drafts of letters, reports, and proposals assembled from your own templates for a person to review, plus client updates and check-in sequences so no thread goes quiet. Drafts only, always human-reviewed.

Measurement

Every automation tied to hours back or errors removed, agreed before we build. You know what it is worth before it exists.

/ Engagements & pricing

Discovery

$3,000 NZD fixed

Small, tightly scoped. Produces a prioritised map of where automation pays in your practice and what it would cost to build. A decision document, not a presentation.

Automation sprint

$5,000 to $25,000 NZD

One bounded problem, fixed price, working software at the end. Scope is locked before the build starts so there are no surprises on the invoice.

Baseline retainer

$4,000 to $8,000 NZD / month

A steady cadence through the backlog, re-prioritised against results each month. Suited to practices with a long list of manual processes to work through systematically.

Frequently asked questions

Can AI give legal advice or produce final documents?
No. It produces first drafts from your own templates for a person to review, edit, and sign off. Advice, judgment, and privilege stay with your lawyers and advisers. The automation handles the assembly and the admin around it, not the professional call.
How do you keep client information confidential?
Confidentiality comes first. Integrations use scoped, authenticated access limited to what a given workflow needs, and data handling is agreed in writing before anything is connected. We can set up enterprise AI tooling with the right data-residency and retention settings so your team uses AI without exposing client data, in line with your Privacy Act 2020 obligations.
Do you work with Actionstep, LEAP, and our document system?
Yes. We integrate against the practice-management system and document store you already run, wired into Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace. If a system has an API, we can almost certainly connect it, and where it does not, we find the seam that does.
What does this cost?
A scoped discovery is fixed at $3,000 NZD. A bounded automation sprint runs $5,000 to $25,000 NZD depending on complexity. Monthly retainers sit between $4,000 and $8,000 NZD. Every engagement is quoted before any build begins.
